MARGARET A. CALLAHAN (nee Kirby), age 91, passed away peacefully on June 1, to join her Savior, her beloved husband, Paul V. Callahan, and son, Paul. Survived by her five children: Therese M. and James P. “Gig”, of Santa Fe; Timothy J., of Los Angeles; and Eileen M., and Mary E. Abood (Chris), of Cleveland. Peg was blessed with four beloved grandchildren: Brendan Callahan, and Catherine (Cat), Paul and Margaret Abood, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws whom she dearly cherished. Peg was born on October 20, 1926, to the late Jeannette and Edmund Kirby and was preceded in death by her siblings, Kathryn (Kay) Hilfer, and Ed and Tom Kirby. She attended St. Ann School and was a 1945 graduate of Beaumont School. Peg’s life was her family, particularly in her later years. Her greatest joys were family gatherings, and passing time with the Callahan, Abood and Kirby clans, and her dearest friend and loyal pup, Woody. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers who showered Mom and Woody with love and kindness. There are too many to name. The family suggests and deeply appreciates gifts in Peg’s memory to Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter, 9500 Sweet Valley Drive, Valley View, OH 44125 or the Alzheimer’s Assn., P.O. Box 74924, Cleveland, OH 44194. A Catholic Christian celebration of Peg’s life will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Dominic, Shaker Heights. Luncheon immediately following. Friends will be received AT THE CHURCH ONE HOUR PRIOR TO MASS TIME. Interment private, All Souls Cemetery.
