JOHN S. WEST. Johnny received an offer he couldn't refuse, from which he will not be returning. A last minute trip, off to a reunion with family and with his Creator. He might have liked to say goodbye to each of you in his own special way. To have one more cheers, one more laugh, one more hug. But the time for him was now. He did not want any pomp and circumstance or fancy flowers, no sighing or crying, he would not want you to be angry with him or question God as to why. He would want each of you to remember him the way he was with you - a brother, a friend, a confidant...and so much more.
If you must cry, let it be with a smile, remembering the laughter and love he brought to all those around him. Think of him sitting on the deck by the ocean, having a late night conversation until everyone else had gone to bed. Wearing his bright shirt with shoes and sunglasses to match. Or begging one last movie, one last song, so he could crank the volume all the way up. John was the life of every party. His practical jokes, his (only slightly) exaggerated stories, and his ability to bring laughter to any situation were renowned. He loved asking questions, getting to the heart of any situation. He took great pride in being a CPA and applying his high ethical and moral standards to all areas of his life. He was never afraid to put his hands on something and do it himself. He was an amazing negotiator and could find the best deal on just about anything. His family and friends were the centerpiece of his life. He was protective of those he loved. He took the advice of his grandmother and traveled young. He saw his mother's dreams for him realized with his own business. Although too short, he packed a lot of living into his life.
At age 45, he is survived by many loved ones. Devoted husband of Jennifer; proud father of Kristoffer; dear brother of Kristin Bergfeld (Robert); loving son of John R. and Elizabeth (deceased); playful uncle of six nieces and nephews; cherished family member and friend of many, many others.
In lieu of flowers, John would love it if you would do a random act of kindness for an unexpectant stranger. To him, it was through simple gestures that we each make the world a better place. He would know and appreciate the love. Services will be held at a later date.
