KATHLEEN "KATE" "KATHY" CAPLAN (nee Lester), age 65. Beloved wife of Simon; dearest mother of Eliot Kijewski (Anastasia "Stacey"); cherished grandmother of Logan, Lillian, and Ella; loving sister of Kevin Lester (Janet, deceased) of Buffalo, NY, Shelley Arthur (Jack) of Washington, DC and Colleen Lester of Saratoga Springs, NY; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews; dear daughter-in-law of Jean Caplan. Long term associate with the Cleveland Clinic in the epilepsy department including research, innovation and technology. She held director of sales positions with CNS, NIhon Kohden, and most recently Compumedics. In addition to a successful professional career, Kate has served as the director of the Cleveland Baseball Federation, founding member of Miracles Happen, and countless other charities. She was the founding member of the "Mommy and Me Club". Kate was wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to the Kate Caplan Epilepsy Research and Education Fund, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Attn: George Lawrence-Desk S60, 9500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44195. Funeral Mass Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Gesu Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment Knollwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the SCHULTE & MAHON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 5252 MAYFIELD RD., LYNDHURST (BETWEEN RICHMOND AND BRAINARD) TUESDAY 2-5 AND 6-8 P.M.
