DR. EDWARD P. FERRERI "DOC", age 98. Beloved husband of 65 years to Jeanne (nee Bergeron); loving father of Marguerite Murphy (husband Patrick), Jeanine Alberti (husband David), Carole Usaj (husband Joseph), Ellen Ferreri, Mary Beth O'Malley (husband William), Patrish Staffileno (husband Michael), Joan Eischen (husband Robert) and Paul Ferreri (partner J. Philip Ferguson); dearest grandfather of Michael Murphy (Margaux), Megan McCullough (Casey), Erin Murphy (Glenn Wera), Brenna Sekulski (Donald, deceased), Kip Sullivan (Nedah Emami), Daniel Usaj, Elizabeth Igoe (Brennan), Nicholas Usaj (Suzanne), William O'Malley, Bridget Falaniko (Andrew), Alexander and Emily Staffileno; great-grandfather of 12; dear brother of Raymond Ferreri (Joyce), Joan Fisher (Robert, deceased) and the late Eugene Ferreri (Rosemary), Rita Chambers and Eleanor Visconsi; cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Ed and Jeanne were inseparable life-long partners. They were very proud of the eight children they raised. Ed graduated from Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in 1940. He was always proud of his military service during WWII. He was the last surviving member of the 4th General Hospital Unit, and was stationed in Australia and New Guinea, serving as a dental officer. He had many stories about his years overseas. Ed returned to Cleveland after his military service and began his dental practice. His office was very close to home and he walked to work daily. Ed's favorite pastime was his power boat. As much as he loved his children, he enjoyed the quiet times at Lakeside Yacht Club when he could work on his boat alone. Several years into retirement, Ed traded his boat for an RV. He and Jeanne were constant companions as they traveled through all of the 48 continental United States and Mexico. They spent a number of winters in Florida until establishing residence in Okeechobee, FL for 25 years. During retirement Ed continued to use his talented hands as he perfected his hobby of making stained glass art and airplanes and windmills out of soda cans. He enjoyed giving his work products as gifts. Ed and Jeanne lived at the McGregor Retirement Community for the past 10 years where they were active in volunteer work and sang in the choir. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in memory of Doc to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
