G. PAUL RICHTER, age 84. Beloved husband of 65 years to Lucille (nee Shepard); dear father of Sandy Richter-True (J. Kimble) and Steve P.; cherished grandfather of Callie Janor (Josh), Greg True, Alex Richter (Mia) and Sam Richter; great-grandfather of Patrick and Bryan Janor; fond brother of the late Kay and Lois; loving uncle. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Richter spent his entire life on the East Side of Cleveland-in South Euclid, Cleveland Heights, and Richmond Heights. He graduated from Brush High School in 1950, where he played on the football team, and his coach called him a "hard-driving six-footer" and a valuable player. He attended Hiram College, and then married his high school sweetheart from Mayfield High School, Lucille (Lou) Shepard, before graduating from Case Institute of Technology in 1955, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) in Cleveland, and completed a 42-year career in 1997 with NACA and its successor, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), at Lewis Research Center (Glenn Research Center). He began his career as a mechanical engineer, designing unique fluid flow systems, responsible for the design, fabrication, installation, and checkout of numerous research facilities. Many of these systems were involved with jet engine and rocket engine research programs. During Mr. Richter's long career, he received numerous awards for his individual and team contributions to research and technology on jet engines, aircraft icing, rockets, and unique fluid systems. He is the author of a number of research reports. Mr. Richter was a long-time member of the Mayfield United Methodist Church. Most recently, he was a frequent visitor to Forest Hill Presbyterian Church. He had a never-ending love affair with his wife, Lucille. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in memory of Paul to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106. Memorial Service Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Church, Presbyterian, 3031 Monticello Blvd., Cleveland Hts., OH 44118. Interment private, Knollwood Cemetery.
