Obituary

DONALD CHARLES MILLER, age 73, died Saturday, August 19, 2017, in Dallas, Texas. Don is survived by his long time love Mary Frances Miller; daughter, Amanda Fields Miller (Oklahoma City); sons, Andrew Charles Miller (Ashley) and Patrick William Miller of Dallas; grandsons, Peyton Lane Miller and Calloway Charles Miller - they will so miss their Papa Don; sisters, Mary Ann Barrett, Nancy Beringer, Judy Collins, and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don Sr. and Mae Miller; and sisters, Gertrude (Dodie) and Elizabeth (Dolly). Don was born on September 13, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Saint Ignatius High School in 1961, and then went on to the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated in 1965. His love of ND and “the Fighting Irish” would be ever-present throughout his life as Don’s father was one of the famous Four Horsemen of Notre Dame. Don’s career was in the aviation industry, including starting his own successful aviation maintenance and overhaul business in the Dallas area. He was also one of the founding members of Vernon’s Royal & Ancients Golf Club and was instrumental in obtaining its USGA charter, starting with only 24 members. Today it is 130-members strong. His golfing pals were his second family. Of his family, he was the most proud. As he always said, his children were his lasting achievement and most prized asset. The family would appreciate contributions in memory of Don to the American Heart Assn., 1689 E. 115th St., Cleveland, OH 44106. Funeral Mass Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Church of Communion of Saints Parish. Interment Private, All Souls Cemetery.
